A 67-year-old South Jersey man has been sentenced to eight years in New Jersey State Prison for sexually assaulting four children under the age of 13, authorities said. An Atlantic City man was accused of locking his ex-girlfriend in an apartment's crawl space, authorities said. Gary Lockel, 54, was arrested on Friday, May 3, the department said in a news release. Driver Injured In Gloucester County Crash:

A driver was injured when he veered off Route 42 in Gloucester County, authorities said. Troopers responded to the crash shortly before 1 p.m. on Monday, May 6 at milepost 12.5 in Deptford Township, according to New Jersey State Police. Based on a preliminary investigation, a BMW passenger vehicle was traveling southbound on Route 42 when the driver lost directional control and struck the guardrail, State Police said. The driver sustained minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.

A 38-year-old man from Millville was charged with driving while intoxicated after a three-vehicle crash in Vineland, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 4 at South Delsea Drive and West Sherman Avenue, according to Vineland police. An Essex County man drowned in the ocean at a beach along the Jersey Shore, authorities said. A New Jersey State Police trooper has died suddenly, the department said. Trooper II Marcellus E. Bethea, who worked in Troop D at the Moorestown station, died during training, Colonel Patrick J. Callahan said. Bethea was an eight-year NJSP veteran and was a member of the 156th State Police Class.
