Authorities are searching for the person who they believe crashed into a WWI memorial in a Connecticut city and drove away. The New Haven County crash happened on the evening of Thursday, March 21 in the city of Meriden. At approximately 10 p.m. that day, near the intersection of Broad Street and East Main Street, a pickup truck reportedly crashed into the “City of Meriden World-War Roll Of Honor,” the city’s WWI monument, knocking it over and causing significant damage. World War I Medals Among Several Items Snatched From Hingham Home: Police
Authorities are investigating after several expensive and priceless items were stolen from a Hingham condominium complex at the end of last year. The Adams Court condo was ransacked while its residents were away from 1 p.m. on December, 29, 2022 to 3 p.m. on December 30, 2022, Hingham Police said on Facebook. The residents came home to find the back door of the forced open and separated from the frame, police said. 35 Years Later, Morris County Homicide Of Decorated WWI Veteran Lester Mickens Still Unsolved
It’s been 35 years since a decorated WWI veteran was found dead inside his Morris County home, and authorities continue to seek answers in hopes of making an arrest. Lester Mickens, 89, was last seen alive by a neighbor sitting on the front porch of his home at 1671 Rt. 23 in Kinnelon around 3 p.m. on Sept. 17, 1986, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said. Mickens’ body was found inside his home the following day around 9 a.m., authorities said. Mickens lived alone and was a decorated WWI veteran. The case was ruled a homicide and remains unsolved. Did you remember to change your clock? Daylight Saving Time went into effect at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 12, marking its 100th year. Local officials also recommend checking and changing batteries on smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
