Coyote Kills Puppy In New Canaan While there have been 11 bobcat sightings in New Canaan recently, its Police Department is pretty certain Friday night's fatal attack on a puppy involved a coyote. "I'm assuming it was a coyote," New Canaan Animal Control Officer Allyson Halm told Daily Voice on Tuesday, April 10. "They're very territorial and it was late at night." The small, 5-month-old puppy was killed along Smith Ridge Road, not far from a country club golf course.  "Our pets are always at risk,'' Halm said.
