Fire At Syosset Hotel Causes Heavy Water Damage
A fire at a Long Island hotel caused heavy water damage to part of the building. The blaze broke out around 9:15 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 24 at the Comfort Inn, 24 Oak St., in Syosset. According to the Nassau County Police, firefighters responded to a fire at the hotel and extinguished "a minor fire from a dryer vent in the laundry room area." Police in South Jersey seek the public's help locating suspects who flooded a home by clogging its drains. On Friday, Evesham police responded to the 100 block of Monmouth Green for a report of a burglary and criminal mischief to a residence. Investigation determined that unknown suspects entered the home, clogged the drains in various locations on the first and second floors, turned on the water and left the water running, Evesham police said. Bayonne Fire Leaves 19 Homeless, No Injuries Reported
Firefighters worked in frigid conditions Thursday to contain a blaze that tore through the top floor of a three-story building in Bayonne, Chief Keith Weaver said in a statement. Firefighters arrived at 247 Broadway around 1:24 p.m. and saw flames pouring from the top windows of the building. Working from outside the structure, firefighters brought the two-alarm blaze under control in about 40 minutes. Nearly Two Dozen, Including Several Kids, Displaced By Jersey City Fire
Firefighters in Jersey City contained a residential blaze in less than an hour Tuesday but the home sustained heavy water damage, a city spokeswoman said. The JCFD responded to 113 Ocean Ave., a three-story building, around 12:30 p.m. The fire was confined to a front bedroom on the third floor. No one was injured, but the home sustained heavy water damage from the activated fire sprinklers. The Red Cross was helping a total of 9 adults and 12 children relocate. The cause of the fire was still under investigation Tuesday afternoon.

40 Firefighters Battle Blaze That Started In Bedroom Of Westchester Home
Dozens of firefighters were called into action on Sunday afternoon to battle a one-alarm blaze that broke out in the bedroom of a two-story Westchester home. Fire crews responded to an Eisenhower Drive home shortly after 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, when a family reported a fire had broken out in a bedroom on the second floor. A home with an expansive view of the Hudson River was damaged by a fire that started in the chimney chase, according to the Mohegan Volunteer Fire Department. The fire started around 12:10 a.m. Thursday at the home on Forest Avenue in Cortlandt, the department said. Cos Cob School will be closed Tuesday due to ongoing assessment of damage as a result of a water leak. School officials said restoration and environmental consultants, town officials, among others, will be on-site to assess the damage, conduct air-quality testing, and to estimate the cleanup and restoration plan and timeline. Ten people were left homeless following a fire at the Crescent Crossing apartment complex in Bridgeport on Sunday morning. The fire started around 10:49 a.m. at the complex at 160 Church St., said Michael A. Caldaroni, assistant fire chief with the Bridgeport Fire Department.
