Man, 65, Killed Crossing Holyoke Street A 65-year-old man was killed after being hit by a car as he crossed the road in Hampden County earlier this week.  The Holyoke man was crossing near the intersection of South Street and Charles Street around 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, authorities said.  Paramedics rushed him to Baystate Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.  The driver who hit him remained on the scene and called 911. Salvatore Esposito-Dimarcant was standing near the 900 block of Mercer Road when he was struck by a 2010 Kia Forte just before 10:40 a.m., police said in a press release. Esposito-Dimarcant was performing landscaping work in the southbound lane at the time of the crash, authorities said. It happed around 10:10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10 in Brentwood. Elna Panphile, 54, of Brentwood, was driving a 2009 Hyundai Accent eastbound on the 200 block of 2nd Ave., when the vehicle struck the pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian, Wilmer Velasquez, of Brentwood, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore in critical condition. Panphile was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
