John Bancheri was hired in December 2018 as Stockton's first full-time women's rowing coach, the Galloway Township college said. Bancheri is an Atlantic City native with about 40 years of experience as a college rowing coach. Kirkland Shipley, 48, pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual abuse of a secondary education student and possession of a sexual performance by a minor on Friday, June 3, according to the Department of Justice. Shipley was arrested for sexually abusing at least two minors on Aug. 21, 2021. At the time of the abuse he was the girls' head coach as well as their History teacher. Yaakov Ben-David, formerly of Lakewood, and freshman Derek Nanni, 19, died when the crew skull they were in capsized during practice last Sunday. Rower From Westchester Gets National Attention Robby Schetlick, a senior at Bronxville High School, received a silver medal on Sunday, June 10 as part of a four-man crew team at the U.S. Rowing Youth National Championships. Schetlick, who competed in the A finals of the Men's Varsity Quad (4x) with the GMS Rowing Center of New Milford, CT, plans to row at the University of Virginia in the fall.
