A construction worker survived a 30-foot fall and a co-worker jumped into an open window when scaffolding collapsed Monday at the site of a massive apartment project in Teaneck, authorities said. Firefighters quickly doused a blaze that found its way inside a Hasbrouck Heights home. Daybreak was still a good 20 minutes away when the NJ Transit bus hit Frank Bauer at the intersection of Madison Avenue and River Road shortly before 6:30 a.m. Feb. 21. A driver was taken after custody following a Sunday morning crash that snapped a utility pole in Ridgewood, causing scattered power and communications outages in the area. The uninjured driver was brought to Glen Rock police headquarters for a blood-alcohol test and then to village headquarters after the Acura RLX slammed into the pole on North Van Dien Avenue shortly before 8:30 a.m. March 3. Thousands Without Power In Central Jersey Due To Wind, Downed Lines
Widespread power outages were fueled by high winds and flooding, authorities said. As of 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, Monmouth County was the hardest hit with more than 15,500 homes and businesses without power, according to Jersey Central Power and Light. Ocean County reported 2,420 without power; Middlesex County experienced 1,109 outages; Mercer County had 955 outages and Burlington County had 90. There also were scattered outages in Camden and Gloucester counties, PSE&G reported, saying there were 427 outages across South Jersey.

Van Splits Utility Pole On Route 4 Approach
A van slammed into a utility pole, splitting it, just off westbound Route 4 on Friday. The driver of the Chevrolet Astro van was checked out at the scene and released following the crash just past Lakeview Street on the Grand Avenue approach to the highway in River Edge shortly before noon Aug. 4. A driver somehow escaped serious injury in Fair Lawn on Thursday when his box truck skimmed a tree, bowled over four street signs and slammed flush into a utility pole, snapping it clean in half. Nearly 2,000 residents were without power Tuesday afternoon, July 25 in one Union County town. The PSE&G outage map shows 1,100 customers were in the dark on one side of Scotch Plains, and just more than 700 on another, as of 3:15 p.m. One outage appeared to be stemming from two separate areas off of Lake Avenue, near the Clark border, and the other in a neighborhood off Westfield Road, between Coles Avenue and Lyde Place.
