An early morning garage fire in the back of a Fairfield County home which led authorities to suspect a puppy mill was found to be the home for the family's pets. The fire took place in Bridgeport around 4:10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 3 at 753 Brooks St. The Bridgeport Fire Department responding to the structure fire discovered a fire in a garage, which was quickly extinguished, said Scott Appleby, director of emergency management for Bridgeport. Cash is a seven pound Chihuahua mix who likes other small dogs and is good with kids 10 and up, the SPCA said. Cash is available for permanent foster due to a heart condition known as degenerative valve disease.
