Fallen Tree Damages 3 Takoma Park Homes, Several People Displaced Several people were displaced when a large tree fell and damaged three homes in Montgomery County on Thursday, April 4, responders said. It happened on Cedar Avenue near Dogwood Avenue off Philadelphia Avenue in Takoma Park around 4 p.m., according to MCRFS Spokesperson Pete Piringer. All three of the houses were occupied when the tree fell, said Piringer, adding that firefighters helped two people escape their homes. No injuries were reported. Suffolk County Police responded to the fire just after midnight on Friday, Feb. 18 at 360 Old Town Road, in East Setauket after receiving a 911 call. Massive Tree Slams Into Mount Vernon House While neighbors dealt with whipping winds and flash flood conditions, a Mount Vernon family had a bigger problem Monday morning when a massive tree came coming down on their house, leaving extensive damage. A Nuber Avenue family received quite the scare at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Monday morning, as wind gusts reached upwards of 40 mph in the area, unearthing the tree, which struck the side and roof of the home. Despite the damage to the home, which is currently uninhabitable, no injuries were reported. The tree could be seen resting on the side of the house later in the day on Monday.
