The victim, who is under the age of 18, was in a restroom at Gar-Field Senior High School on Smoketown Road in Woodbridge when Lamine Mellouk came inside and sexually assaulted her on Oct. 18, Prince William County police said. The girl reported the incident to a family member who contacted police. Mellouk was arrested on Monday, Nov. 27 and charged with misdemeanor sexual battery. He was released on a court summons.

Ghent Man Sexually Abuses Young Child, Police Say A 52-year-old man from the region is facing charges after allegedly sexually abusing a young child. Columbia County resident Robert Schaefer, of Ghent, was arrested Monday, Sept. 18, by New York State Police. According to troopers, Schaefer sexually abused a victim under the age of 11. Investigators did not elaborate on his relationship to the alleged victim. Schaefer is charged with felony sexual abuse and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned in Kinderhook Court, where a judge ordered him held at the Columbia County jail on $5,000 cash bail.
