A group of people, thought to be part of a South American theft group, were arrested after they were discovered on Long Island with a Wi-Fi signal scrambler, crowbars, and more, officials said. It happened on Monday, Jan. 29 in Elmont, according to Nassau County Police. A couple is facing charges after they were allegedly caught squatting in a vacant home in the region. Troopers in Schoharie County were called to a home on Route 7 in the town of Cobleskill on Sunday evening, July 23, for a report of trespassers. An investigation found that Melissa Johnson, age 44, and Jesus Lanauze, age 58, both of Albany, had been living in the home without permission for nearly a week, according to State Police. Months after a 59-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Long Island, the suspected driver has been arrested. Qiulong Chen, age 35, of Ronkonkoma, was arrested Thursday, March 2 in connection to death of Joseph Biggica, according to Suffolk County Police. A passing driver found Biggica lying unresponsive on Remington Boulevard at around 6:20 p.m. on Oct. 25, 2022. Three men are facing charges after they were allegedly caught stealing mail from a Long Island post office.
