2 Vernon Men Found Dead In Lower Bolton Lake After Canoe Overturns
Two Connecticut men were found dead in a lake after their canoe overturned. The incident occurred in Tolland County in Bolton at Lower Bolton Lake on Wednesday, March 13. According to Paul Copleman, spokesperson for the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, multiple fire departments responded with vessels and dive teams to search for the men. The US Coast Guard and New Jersey State Police are searching for an overdue boater approximately a mile east of Cape May Villas, authorities said. Eleven passengers in a sinking boat were rescued by New Jersey State Police. On Aug. 14, several troopers rescued the passengers from the 21-foot boat in Point Pleasant. New legislation has been signed into law improving boating safety in honor of an 11-year-old girl who died in a 2005 accident. Brianna’s Law was signed by New York Gov. Marine Patrol Deputies throughout the county will be conducting a series of boating safety courses over the next several months, Dutchess County Sheriff Adrian “Butch” Anderson announced in a press release.
