Dismembering Dead Body Would Be Felony Under Bill From Suffolk County State Lawmaker Public outrage over the release of four suspects accused of dismembering and hiding the bodies of two murder victims in New York has led to proposed changes to state law. A bill introduced by Long Island Republican State Sen. Anthony Palumbo on Thursday, March 7, would make it a felony to dismember or conceal a human corpse, thereby making the offense eligible for bail. Palumbo said the legislation is a direct response to the “horrific” case in Suffolk County, where the severed body parts of a Yonkers couple were found strewn at Bethpage State Park, Southards Pond Park in Babylon, and a woo…

THIS IS BAIL REFORM? Judge Releases Accused Big-Time Paterson Dealer Busted In $1M Drug Raid THIS IS BAIL REFORM? Judge Releases Accused Big-Time Paterson Dealer Busted In $1M Drug Raid
This IS Bail Reform? Judge Releases Accused Big-Time Paterson Dealer Busted In $1M Drug Raid One of the biggest arguments for bail reform in New Jersey was that poor defendants regularly languished in jail, waiting for their cases to be heard, while drug dealers routinely paid their way out. Examples of offenders who are repeatedly caught and immediately released have dominated the debate over bail reform. New Jersey got a different example, however, with the arrest of a Dominican national described by authorities as a big-time Paterson drug dealer. Roughly 3½ pounds of fentanyl powder and 1,300 fentanyl pills were among nearly $1 million worth of narcotics seized from Pedro Rodr…

SMH: Released Burglar Returns To Cliffside For His Stuff, Gets Busted For Gun, Drugs Only under New Jersey’s bail reform law can an ex-con charged with a string of burglaries be released by a judge before police even have a chance to search his car. And maybe only in New Jersey will the just-released defendant go to police headquarters to retrieve his things and immediately be arrested. That’s because while ex-con Ralph Lloyd Wilson was passing through the revolving door of justice, Cliffside Park detectives were finding a gun and drugs in the rented vehicle. It began with Wilson’s arrest last week by police in neighboring Fort Lee. He'd burglarized a row of businesse…
