A Central Jersey woman and her dogs are recovering after their home was heavily damaged by fire last week. Friends have come to the aid of Valentina Mejia who was asleep when she was abruptly woken up by her dogs barking. A police officer shot two dogs who were attacking him while he was conducting a welfare check in Virginia, authorities said. Prince William County police were called to a home on the 13900 block of Telegraph Rd. in Woodbridge around 10:05 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28. A pit bull was allegedly shot during a burglary in southeast D.C. in an early morning robbery, reports Fox 5 DC. The dog was reportedly shot around 1:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 21 in the area of 18th and 23rd Streets. NJ Transit Police Rescue Dog Struck By Light Rail
New Jersey Transit officers rushed to the aid of a dog pinned under the Newark Light Rail last week. Patrol, K9 and ESU officers found the injured dog under the train on Friday. All worked together to remove the cold and injured dog without further trauma. They stabilized the canine and rushed it to an appropriately suited K9 vehicle for its transport to an animal hospital. Firefighters revived two cats with pet oxygen masks during an early-morning Lyndhurst house fire Wednesday.
