Connecticut Raises Age To Buy Tobacco, E-Cigarettes, Vaping Products Starting on Oct. 1, tobacco, electronic cigarettes and vaping products cannot be sold to anyone under 21 in Connecticut. The state also plans to begin taxing e-cigarettes and flavored vaping liquids at the same rate as tobacco -- 50 percent of the retail price.  But many health officials say raising the age may not be enough. Some states, including New York and Michigan, are moving to ban e-cigarettes altogether. The White House also has called for a national ban on flavored e-cigarettes.  According to the American Lung Association, more than 5,000 children start vaping every day.…

Scott Hindon Of Mahwah, Fair Lawn Was Talented Baseball Player, Accomplished Travel Manager Scott M. Hindon of Mahwah died on Aug. 8. He was 47 years old. Born in Ridgewood, Scott grew up in Ho-Ho-Kus and graduated from Midland Park High School in 1990, his obituary says.  He attended Ramapo College where he played baseball, and continued playing in other Bergen County leagues later on. Scott lived in Fair Lawn before moving to Mahwah. He enjoyed sports games (Cowboys, Mets and Devils, particularly), traveling with his wife, Erin, and all-things music related, the obit says.
