PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- The current and future state of public education remains an important topic in Albany, within school districts, in classrooms and around kitchen tables across New York. That's why on March 10, Pace University’s School of Education will host "Shaping Public Education Policy in New York State," a forum in which participants will discuss the policies and practices that will help determine the future of New York's public education.

Held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m, topics will include equity vs. equality for students with disabilities, charter schools, vouchers and school accountability.

The format for the forum will include opening remarks from MaryEllen Elia, NYS commissioner on education, and a panel discussion with education stakeholders including Dr. Betty Rosa, chancellor of the Board of Regents; Dr. Jere Hochman, deputy secretary of education; Judith Johnson, member of NYS Board of Regents; Kathleen Cashin, member of NYS Board of Regents; Assemblyman Thomas Abinanti; Assemblywoman Shelley Mayer; State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins and State Senator Terrence Murphy.

The forum will be held in Wilcox Hall on Pace University's Pleasantville Campus. The event is free of charge, but space is limited. For questions, contact Liz Luongo at 914-773-3829 or eluongo@pace.edu. Please register here.
