“What did you say to her?” Superior Court Judge Patrick Roma demanded of Mario Sarachelli in Hackensack. “You were cursing at her.
“Some of the calls were at 4 a.m. You knew that was an inappropriate time to make phone calls. You knew she would be sleeping.”
Sarachelli, 30, of Fairfield, admitted making the first of those calls after the 29-year-old woman dumped him last May — four days after a gala birthday party for her.
Sarachelli told the judge he asked: “ ‘I’d like to know why the [expletive] you’re doing this’ or something like that.”
He also admitted sending text messages that, according to an indictment returned by a grand jury in Hackensack, served to “cause her emotional distress, or to fear for her and for others’ safety.”
The 6-foot, 178-pound Sarachelli also admitted today to having prescription narcotics when he was arrested.
Assistant Bergen County Prosecutor Keith Tanzer told the judge that Sarachelli was initially charged with having oxycodone, amphetamine dextroamphetamine, alprazoam and buprenorphine and had violated a court “no contact” order in repeatedly callling the victim.
Defense attorney Robert Stack asked Sarachelli if he had the drugs “without a valid prescription or other legal reason.” Sarachelli said he did.
Roma then outlined the terms he said he will impose at a scheduled Feb. 22 sentencing.
“This is a 26-week course you have to attend as a condition of your probation,” the judge told Sarachelli. “Do you understand?
“Basically, they teach you to improve your ability to communicate with a member of the opposite sex and how to treat a woman.
“If you have a drug problem,” Roma added, “you have to submit to an evaluation and comply with all the recommendations.”
