State police in Cortlandt arrested 25-year-old Lloyd resident Megan Hansut on a misdemeanor charge of writing a false written statement after she provided law enforcement with a detailed account of domestic violence and order or protection violations, which led to the arrest of Phillipstown resident William Wooster in March.

On March 3, Hansut alleged that Wooster met her at Walmart in Fishkill, ordering her not to testify at an upcoming court case following his arrest for assault, which was in violation of a previous order of protection. Police said that further investigation into those claims found evidence refuting Hansut’s version of events and allegations against her then partner.

Hansut was released on her own recognizance and is due back in the Town of Cortlandt Justice Court to answer the charges this week.
