Two Charged With Burglary At Cortlandt Elementary School

CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- One Mohegan Lake man and one Cortlandt man have been charged with burglary after state police say they were removing copper from an abandoned building at Toddville School in Cortlandt.

Troopers were dispatched to the Toddville School, located on Locust Avenue on Sunday, June 29, when Good Samaritans heard people inside of the abandoned building.

When Ppolice arrived on scene, they say they found Morgan Friend, 32, of Mohegan Lake and Kevin Singleton, 31, of Cortlandt inside of the school removing copper.

Both were arrested and charged with three-degree burglary, a Class D felony.

Friend and Singleton were arraigned before the Town of Cortlandt Court.  

Singleton was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail and Friend was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
