Joshua D. Roman, 19, was stopped by sheriff’s deputies on Oscawana Lake Road about 5:50 p.m. Saturday for traffic violations, the sheriff said.

The deputy, who reported smelling pot smoke coming from Roman’s vehicle, conducted a search and found a quantity of marijuana, Smith said.

Roman was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor, the sheriff said.

The teen was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and released after posting $250 bail, police said.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, Roman could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000, police said.
