Melanie Sue Milite, who was born and raised in Orange County, died Oct. 7, 2017, at her home in Milton in Ulster County. She was 44.
She was born in Newburgh on Feb. 5, 1973 to Richard Milite and Michelle Walsh Milite Card and grew up in Highland. She attended Highland High School where she excelled in junior cross country and earned her letter in varsity cross country. She graduated in 1991.
Melanie went on to become a master hairstylist. After years of dedication and work her talent earned her the title of " The Queen of the Updo."
Melanie's artistic prowess was not confined to hair. She would transform abandoned pieces of furniture into one-of-a-kind works of art.
Melanie is survived by her fiancé Mark Schimdt, her son Anthony Rocco Pavese of Highland, her daughter Tori Michelle Terwilliger of Arlington, her mother Michelle Walsh Milite Card of Newburgh, father Richard Milite of Milton, her brother Christopher Milite of Newburgh, her uncles Terry Walsh of Newburgh and Jake Milite of Newburgh, her aunts Kathy Sanicola of Milton, Kathy Walsh of Marlboro, Ngreat Aunts Babe Sgro of Middlehope and Linda Manzo of Warrensburgh and many cousins.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Frank Walsh, her maternal grandmother, Evelyn Walsh, her paternal grandmother Josephine Milite Peabody, paternal grandfather Simone Milite and her Uncle Jon Walsh.
A Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 16 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 38 Main St. in Highland,. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at Saint Augustine Roman Catholic Church in Highland at 9:30 a.m.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in Melanie's name go to The Alzheimer Association North East chapter of New York or the ASPCA.
