She was born Nov. 19, 1923. She grew up in Yonkers, Staten Island and the Bronx and graduated from Walton all-girls high school in the Bronx. She also spent some summers as a child in the Catskills

She is survived by her four children and their spouses, David Ross and Patti Miller of Seattle, Diane Ross Smith and Eldon Smith of Ballston Spa, Peter Ross and Anna Spallone of Yorktown Heights and Judy Ross and Scott Abrahamson of Westport; and six grandchildren, Emile Ross, Caitlin Ross, Keith Smith, Alaina Smith, Miles Ross and Chris Ross.

She married Richard Ross (who predeceased her), also from the Bronx, in 1948 and in 1950 they moved to Yorktown Heights, where they lived for about 60 years.

Ross was a teacher’s aide in the Yorktown school system for 20 years.

She had a close-knit group of friends during her 66 years in Yorktown.

She loved to read and read voraciously, everything from murder mystery series to historical fiction to non-fiction. She loved to dance and was quite the lindy hopper in her day. She loved clothes and jewelry and a good discussion on almost any topic, from politics to philosophy to science. She enjoyed being outside, looking at the view, the trees, the sky and she especially loved the view of Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid.

There will be no formal services.
