Arthur J. Rickey, 90, Of Verplanck

VERPLANCK, N.Y. -- Arthur J. Rickey, a longtime resident of Verplanck, died Sunday, April 19. He was 90.

Rickey was born on May 10, 1924, in Mount Vernon to Antoine Ovid Riquier and Edell S. Kauder. He graduated from St. Patrick's School in Verplanck and Hendrick Hudson High School in Montrose.

He served in the U.S. Army until the end of World War II. Heretired as a police sergeant after 24 years of service in Bronxville.

Rickey was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Russell Ovid Rickey; and first wife, Dorothy G. Yarrish, mother of his four sons. He is survived by his wife, Claire Kirtman Novokoff; his children, Arthur J. Rickey Jr. and his wife, Donna, Russell J. Rickey and his partner, Michele Agrest, Denis G. Rickey and his wife, Katherine, Ronald J. Rickey and his wife, Laura, Gail Kirtman Feldman and her husband, Lawrence, Lyle J. Kirtman and his wife, Kathy; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours are Thursday, April 23, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Cortlandt Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, April 24, at St. Patrick's Church.

Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Verplanck.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rickey's memory to Wounded Warriors Project and The Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
