Donahue was born Jan. 8, 1936, in Peekskill, to John and Mary Bruno Donahue. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He later entered local politics and was the mayor of the Village of Buchanan for 12 years. He was active in community and civic affairs.
Donahue is survived by his wife, Carolyn Donahue of Buchanan; children, Cynthia (Robert) Lynch, Michael Donahue, Mary (Kriss) Hammond, Timothy (Desiree) Donahue and Doreen (Brian) Sheridan; 20 grandchildren; brothers, Patrick Donahue, John (Loretta) Donohue and Larry (Carol) Donahue; brother-in-law, Vincent Sorano; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Alice Sorano; grandson, Tyler Hammond; sister-in-law, Linda Donahue; and best buddy, Kenneth MacDonald.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 at the Assumption Church, Peekskill. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Verplanck.
