Crews from the fire department were dispatched to the Hudson River following reports of a boat in distress at 10:50 a.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, firefighters determined that a sailboat was stuck on a “sand bar” in Croton Point.
Due to the shallow depth where the boat was stuck, firefighters utilized one of the department’s rafts, launched from the mouth of the Croton River, where it meets the Hudson, to get to the sailboat, successfully aiding it and the boaters without further incident or damage.
