BUCHANAN, N.Y. -- State official Richard Kauffman says Gov. Andrew Cuomo is actively searching for ways to close and replace the Indian Point nuclear facility in Buchanan, according to Capital New York.
Cuomo has long had concerns about the nuclear facility and the governor reiterated those concerns after a transformer explosion earlier in the month, Capital New York reported.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is currently reviewing the licenses of both nuclear reactors, but a decision to renew those licenses could take years, Capital New York said.
