BUCHANAN, N.Y. -- A security training will be held at Indian Point Energy Center on Thursday.
The training drills will involve simulated attack scenarios intended to be as realistic as possible, Entergy, which runs Indian Point, said.
Members of the public may hear what appears to be gunfire from simulated weapons systems used during the exercises, Entergy said.
Local law enforcement agencies have been informed of the events, Entergy said.
Security officers will be using Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement Systems (MILES) gear during the drill. These systems involve special laser weaponry, which duplicates the effects, including sound, of live ammunition, Entergy said.
