Sirens will sound at full volume for about four minutes in Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam counties, Indian Point Energy Center officials said.

The sirens will sound only as a planned test, and no action is necessary on the part of the public, the officials said.

During an actual emergency, sirens would signal the public to tune to a local Emergency Alert System radio or television station for information and directions, Indian Point officials said.

More information about Indian Point emergency planning can be found on the New York State Office of Emergency Management website.
