Lewis Thomas Roemer, 19, of Hyde Park was fatally struck about 7 p.m. on Monday, according to Aaron Donovan, Metro-North's deputy director for communications.

Roemer was hit on the tracks by a westbound train destined for Port Jervis, N.Y., just east of the Otisville train station in Orange County, Donovan said.

The victim was a 2016 graduate of Franklin D. Roosevelt High School.

There is an active, ongoing investigation by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department, but it appears there was no criminality, Donovan said on Wednesday.

Train 55 left Hoboken, N.J., at 5:15 p.m. It was due to arrive in Port Jervis, N.Y., at 7:23 p.m. before the fatal accident.
