John R. Ahearn, chief executive officer of Fieldhome, announced recently that Diggs will replace Carol Milillo, who retired after seven years at the center.

Diggs has a bachelor's degree in elementary education from SUNY Buffalo State and a master's degree in teaching English to non-English speakers from the College of New Rochelle. Her career has spanned 25 years, including teaching pre-K, first-grade and second-grade.

She's also been the director of early childhood programs at a large community center in the Bronx, officials said. In addition, she is certified in CPR and has been a volunteer firefighter for more than 30 years.

The Early Learning Center at Fieldhome provides licensed year-round care for children 6 weeks to 5 years old. It has an intergenerational program for children and participants in the adult day care and assisted living centers.
