CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- All tweens and teen wanna be fashion designers will want to attend Camp Groovy on Grand, Westchester's awesome fashion design camp for aspiring designers with a focus on fashion design, collection development, fashion illustration, portfolio building, graphic design and wearable art.
Camp Groovy on Grand is geared for 'Tweens and Teenagers, ages 9 to 16, where each designing student will illustrate, design and create a collection of garments and accessories with professional design techniques.
Campers sketch, design and create a new collection of clothing of their own designs and a portfolio during each week-long session. Among many fashion activities, campers will make mood boards, select color palettes, view designer runway shows, illustrate, select fabric, cut and sew, fabric paint, sketch, stud, dye, embellish, print, heat seal, silk screen, applique and more.
On Friday at the end of each session, campers will present their designs at a boutique-style fashion show.
Sessions begin in July and run through August:
- Session 1- July 11 to July 15: Fun in the Sun Week (Sketch, develop, design and create 6-8 Beach/Summery garments/accessories)
- Session 2- July 18 to July 22: Say Yes to the Dress Week (Sketch, develop, design and create two dresses and two to four accessories)
- Session 3- July 25-29: Hipster Week (Sketch, develop, design and create six to eight Indie/Boho garments/accessories)
- Session 4- Aug. 1-12: Two-week Fashion Design Collection Camp (Sketch, develop, design and create a 10-12 piece collection with their own theme)
Camp Groovy on Grand will be held at 112 Grand Street in Croton-on-Hudson, in the lower-floor rooms of Holy Name of Mary off the Vassallo Park entrance. All sessions meet Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Camp fees vary per week, based on cost of goods and staff ratio. The 2016 camp fees for the three 5-day sessions are: Session 1 -- $445.00; Session 2 -- $455.00, and Session 3 -- $465.00. The fee for the 10-day Session 4 is $825.00To register, or for information, click here.
