Eight Cortlandt Roads Closed: All Need Con Ed

CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- Jeff Coleman, director of the Cortlandt Department of Environmental Services, encourages residents without power to contact Con Edison and not assume that their outage has been reported.

Saying Irene was bigger than most storms, Coleman said the Town of Cortlandt had 40 roads that they knew were closed at the height of the storm. As of Tuesday afternoon, the town was down to eight roads that remained closed and Con Ed is responsible for all of them. “It is a little frustrating waiting on Con Ed to clear roads.”

On Tuesday, Con Edison reported that approximately 155,400 of its 187,800 customers in New York City and Westchester County had power restored.

The Cortlandt roads that are still closed are:

Batten RoadDogwood RoadDoris Lee DriveElm Street in Lake PeekskillFrederick StreetFurnace Dock Road at Maple AvenueKnollwood RoadCroton Lake Road over by the dam.
