Croton Police Help Driver Who Flipped Car

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Croton Police were called to the scene of an overturned car that was also smoking on Cleveland Drive earlier this week. The driver said she took her “eyes off the road for a minute,” struck a curb, and then her car flipped over. She was taken to Westchester Medical Center, which has the nearest trauma unit, and an accident report is pending.

In other police news:

-An employee from the Goodwill Store in the ShopRite shopping center called police last Thursday to say the staff had apprehended a shoplifter. Maria Culqui, 35, of State Street in Ossining, was charged with petit larceny for allegedly taking two pair of underwear. She was arraigned at headquarters and bail was set at $200.

-School security officers at Croton-Harmon High school told police Friday that there was a man riding a bicycle at the back of the school building. Patrols responded and told the man that he had to leave. The man said that he thought because he paid school taxes he could be on the property. He was advised otherwise and left without incident.

-A Maple Street resident told police early Sunday morning that several people were in front of his home, kicking cars and being disorderly. Patrols responded and found four people who had been ejected from an unwanted house party by a parent, after which they became disorderly.

-Two people, one from Elmore Avenue and another from Amber Drive, told police Monday that they rode their bicycles to Croton-Harmon station in the morning and when they returned their bicycles had been stolen.

-Patrols on Wednesday reported “coming upon” a fight between two women on South Riverside Avenue around 8:30 am. The women were reportedly arguing about the husband of one of the women. Police arrested Maria Tena, 37, of State Street in Ossining, charging her with second-degree harassment and disorderly conducts, both misdemeanors. Tena was arraigned in front of Judge Watkins and bail was set at $500.
