Cortlandt's Curry Subaru-Hyundai Opens Monday

CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. - Curry Subaru-Hyundai opened its doors today with a new 30,000 square foot facility at 3040 E. Main St. Owners say the building is a leader in green construction.

An application is pending for the building to be "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design" (LEED) certified with the U.S. Green Business Council. The council uses a 100-point scale to rate a business' or home's environmental impact.

“When we first started planning, our primary goal was to install solar panels, but once we realized what a significant and positive impact we could make on the environment, we dedicated our resources and effort toward constructing a LEED-certified showroom,” said Bob Carinci, Curry's chief operations officer, in a press release.

The dealership decided to forego solar panels in favor of following LEED guidelines, and hopes to receive its certification in the near future.

The dealership said some of the specific choices it made to be greener included choosing native and water-efficient landscaping, and insulating the building to reduce the size of and stress on heating and cooling units.

"We are very pleased that the Curry dealership will stay in Cortlandt on our Cortlandt Boulevard,” said Cortlandt Town Supervisor Linda Puglisi, in a release provided by the dealership. “It provides an excellent product for consumers, quality service, and jobs, and is a source of revenue for our community. We look forward to the grand opening and wish everyone at Curry continued success."
