CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- The town of Cortlandt has gained approval to buy a former quarry from Con Edison, according to a report in The Examiner.
Town officials have been trying to purchase the 99-acre site in Verplanck to prevent construction of a high-voltage converter station there, The Examiner reported.
Town Supervisor Linda Puglisi sais the town would like to build recreational facilities at the site, according to the report.
