CORTLANDT, N.Y. - Groups are getting crafty around Cortlandt. The "Book and a Blanket" group at the Hendrick Hudson Free Library knits blankets for newborn babies and there are winter crafts available for young children. Check out our list below.

Monday, Jan. 14

Cortlandt Town Board Work Session: 7 p.m. The Cortlandt Town Board meets to discuss current events in the town. This meeting does not have a portion dedicated to public comment. Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt Manor.

Croton Village Board Work Session: 7:30 p.m. Members of the Croton Board of Trustees meet to discuss current events in the village. There is not a portion of this meeting dedicated to public comment. Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building, 1 Van Wyck St., Croton.

Tuesday, Jan. 15

Winter Tales and Edible Craft: 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. Hear a winter tale followed by a simple edible craft at the Hendrick Hudson Free Library. This event is not recommended for children with food allergies, and is recommended for children in kindergarten through second grade.  Register by phone by calling 914-739-5654, or visit the library at 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose.

Aroma Fitness: 6:30 p.m. This unique fitness class blends essential oils with meditation, breathing exercises and stretching. Barbara Smith teaches the six-week course. There is a $15 material fee and space is limited. To register, call the Hendrick Hudson Free Library at 914-739-5654 or visit the library at 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose.

Wednesday, Jan. 16

Cortlandt Zoning Board of Appeals: 7 p.m. The zoning board meets to discuss issues of zoning law in the town. Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt Manor.

Book and a Blanket 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Knit simple blankets for newborns at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center with materials provided by the Hendrick Hudson Free Library. The library is at 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose.

Thursday, Jan. 17

Matinee Movie: 1:30 p.m. "The Amazing Spiderman" (PG-13) shows a fresh take on the superhero, starring Emma Stone. The Hendrick Hudson Free Library, 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose.

Eagle Monitoring at Verplanck Dock: 3 to 5 p.m. Continuing Thursdays in January and February, join members of the Sawmill River Audubon at the Verplanck Dock, at 2 Riverview Ave., Verplanck as they monitor bald eagles coming to roost across the river at Stony Point and downriver on the north side of Georges Island. Spotting scopes are available, although binoculars are helpful. Dress warmly.

Croton-Harmon Board of Education Meeting: 7:30 p.m. This meeting is an update on "goals aligning with curriculum, instruction, and assessment." A portion of this meeting is dedicated to public comment. Croton-Harmon High School community room, at 36 Old Post Road S., Croton.
