Chelsea Krueger Dubin, whose sister Caitlin Krueger has been diagnosed with MS; and RedTettemer O’Connell + Partners of Philadelphia, Pa., will participate in the National MS Society’s City to Shore ride taking place on Sunday, Oct. 4.
Dubin’s ride will begin in Cherry Hill and conclude in Ocean City.
Caitlin Krueger will join her team “Rock for KT Bugg” for its third year participating in BikeMS New York City.
The funds raised from both events will benefit research needed to develop life changing treatments and hopefully find a cure for MS.
Caitlin Krueger was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2012.Multiple sclerosis is a rare disease in which the body’s own immune cells attack neurons by eating away at their protective, fatty layer.
This layer—the “myelin sheath”—insulates the part of the neuron that transmits signals, just like flexible plastic protects telephone cable.
According to the National MS Foundation, approximately 400,000 people in the U.S. and living with MS, with no cases being exactly the same. One person is newly diagnosed with MS every hour, bringing the worldwide total to approximately 2.1 million.
The average onset of MS is 29 years and women are 2-3 times more likely to get MS than men.
Symptoms include fatigue, numbness, balance and coordination issues, loss of vision, bladder problems, abnormal speech, temporary paralysis and more
