Peekskill's NY Firehouse Grille Grand Reopening Saturday

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- The NY Firehouse Grille, a longtime favorite restaurant in the city, will be hosting its grand re-opening on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

The new owners, the Asadoorian and Fucci families, have spent the past few months completely renovating the grill.

"It took us about two months to start the work and four months worth of work to get it the way you see it now," said Peter Asadoorian.

His brother Alex is the new general manager and their father Mark, a veteran in the restaurant industry, is also helping to run the business.

"It's a family business, and we have a lot of experience with restaurants," Asadoorian said.

The new owners have kept the original restaurant name to honor its historical reputation and will continue to offer 10 percent off discounts to fire, EMT/paramedics, police, teachers, and active military personnel.

"As soon as we saw this place was for sale, we said we want it  and we don't we don't want to change anything about it," said Alex Asadoorian.

The new menu offers hand-made burgers, steaks and fresh seafood, and the restaurant maintains an in-house smoker for ribs, brisket and chicken. The grill continues to offer over 35 different wing flavors, including the "Waiver Wings" that are seven times hotter than the infamous ghost pepper without sacrificing taste. As the name suggests, they require the individual to sign a liability waiver in order to eat them.

The refurbished grill features big screen televisions for all sporting events including the Direct TV with NFL Sunday ticket and a vast selection of ice cold draft and bottled beer provided by Peekskill's D. Bertoline & Son.

The roof, walls, floors, kitchen, tables and chairs have all been replaced, and a new bar has been built. The entrance has also been moved away from the bar,

"This is a family restaurant but you also have the bar, and we didn't want to have to walk kids through the bar and we don't want the bar crew to have to worry about kids being in the bar," Asadoorian said.

The grill will also be hosting a Halloween party on Saturday, Oct. 27 with raffles, prizes, games, and giveaways as well as a contest for best costume.

So far business has been very good, said Alex Asadoorian.

"The community really wanted this place reopened, and they're really showing us that and supporting us," he said. "It's been incredible."

The NY Firehouse Grille is at 50 Welcher Ave. and is open daily at 11 a.m. Call 914- 788-0808 for reservations or more information.
