Perrone, a sophomore at Walter Panas High School, was the top individual bowler at the New York State High School Championships in Rochester, knocking down 1392 pins over six games. Perrone had the highest regular season average in the state with a score of 238.

More importantly for Perrone, Walter Panas' finished fourth overall at the sectional championships.

"This season has been great," Perrone, who bowls at Jefferson Valley Lanes and Cortlandt Bowl, said. "It's awesome to be a part of this team. This is the highest I can remember our team finishing."

Perrone has been bowling competitively since he was seven but started taking the sport more seriously when he started playing on the high school team. He bowls with two hands, which is unorthodox, though he said is becoming more popular.

"My left hand is on the ball and my right hand is behind it," Perrone said. "It provides the initial push."

Perrone comes from a family of bowling and began bowling with his dad in an adult-kids league. He said he hopes to bowl in college.

"I just love the competitive atmosphere," Perrone said. "I've made so many friends through bowling."

Of course, Perrone's favorite part of bowling is when he gets a strike.

"It's one of the best feelings in the world," Perrone said.
