Croton's Jim Moore To Be Honored As Youth Sports Leader

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- The gymnasium at Holy Name of Mary Church will be named April 14 for Jim Moore, who founded the Catholic Youth Organization basketball program there nearly 50 years ago.

Moore founded to CYO program in 1965 and served as Director/Coach for 24 years. He returned to the sidelines to help coach his grandson in 2006.

Additionally, Moore founded the Croton Flag Football program in 1968 and the Croton Recreation Basketball Program in 1969.

Moore was a minor league and little league baseball coach in the 60’s and 70’s and has been a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1951 and an active member of the Holy Name of Mary council since moving to Croton in 1960, serving  as its Grand Knight for three years.  

All Holy Name parishioners, former and current CYO players and families as well as friends from the community are invited to attend the noon dedication ceremony. Refreshments will be served.
