Mount Vernon Holds Forum Monday On School Election, Budget

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The Greater Centennial Social Action Ministry and the Westchester County Home Owners’ Coalition will sponsor their second annual school board forum, set for Monday at 6 p.m.

The forum will be at the Greater Centennial AME Zion Church’s Fellowship Hall on 312 S. Eight Ave. in Mount Vernon.

The aim is to allow the six school board candidates who are running in the upcoming election, set for May 19, to speak to the audience.

Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Hamilton will also outline the projected 2015-16 budget, set at $230 million. The election will allow residents to make a simple yes/no vote on the budget.
