The 47-year-old has lived in Croton since 1995.  She has two young children, a third grader at C.E.T and a fifth grader at P.V.C.  Cross-Bugliosi earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from SUNY at Oswego and a JD-Law Degree from the University of Pennsylvania.  She is currently a principal law clerk to an appellate term supreme court justice. Prior to that she worked as a Westchester County Assistant County Attorney and Kings County Assistant District Attorney.

Why did you choose to run for the board of education this year?

My decision is based on my dedication to supporting the growth and well-being of children, and my belief a quality education is essential to their development. Over the past ten years, I have been active in Croton working on various committees which support the interests of Croton children, including my preschool’s Parent Committee and Board, the PTAs, as a CCD teacher or working with young girl scouts to provide community service and become future leaders.  As an experienced attorney, I know the importance of advocacy, compromise and asking the right questions, and would bring these skills to the board.

What issues in particular would you like see addressed?

I would like to see more transparency in our budget and policies and would strive for fiscal responsibility and accountability.  Next, communication between the Board and the community needs to be developed further.  Finally, I would like to see policies that promote academic success for all students, using techniques like differentiation, flipped classrooms, or flexible grouping to engage every student in the district in their learning, allowing them to take ownership over their learning.
