GREENBURGH, N.Y. – Two men are accused of killing a man while trying to rob a sizeable amount of marijuana during a Greenburgh drug deal, the Westchester County District Attorney's office said Wednesday.

Daniel Forte, 26, of Cortlandt Manor and Enrique Ansell, 26, of Sleepy Hollow are charged with killing Kujtim Rushiti in January 2013 near Oak Avenue and Warren Avenue in Greenburgh.

Officials say Forte and Ansell were involved in a marijuana deal with a drug dealer when they insisted on weighing the drug before buying it.

Forte pulled out a handgun and struck the drug dealer as the group moved to a front stoop of a house on Warren Avenue to weigh the drugs, officials said.

The man called out to his friends, one of whom was Rushiti, who were in a car and had delivered the marijuana to the deal, as he went down, officials said.

Forte fired a shot at Rushiti, striking him in the neck, officials said. Rushiti's friends grabbed him and then called police.

Rushiti was taken to the Westchester Medical Center, where he died. Greenburgh police later arrested Forte and Ansell.

Forte and Ansell appear in court on June 11.

Forte is charged with one count of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one count of second-degree robbery, all felonies.

Ansell is charged with one count of second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree robbery, one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one count of second-degree robbery, all felonies.

Forte faces life in prison for his first-degree murder charge. Ansell faces 25 years to life for his second-degree murder charge.
