Nicholas J. Nicastro, 80, Longtime Cortlandt Manor Resident, Navy Veteran

CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. - Nicholas J. Nicastro, a longtime Cortlandt Manor resident, died May 7. He was 80.

Nicastro served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. He was a member of the Church of the Assumption in Peekskill. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Peekskill Council #462 and the 4th Degree Assembly.

Nicastro is survived by his wife, Helen Slanina; son, Nicholas F. Nicastro; three granddaughters; and sister, Mary Isoldi. He was predeceased by his daughter, Diane Nicastro; and sister, Josephine Citelli.

Calling hours are Thursday, May 9 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.O. Curry Funeral Home, Peekskill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 10 at the Assumption Church, Peekskill, followed by military honors.
