Katharine H. Cordts, 73, Of Montrose

MONTROSE, N.Y. - Katharine H. Cordts of Montrose died Tuesday, Aug. 20. She was 73.

Cordts was born April 9, 1940, in Brooklyn, to Jacobus and Katharine (Haupert) Strik. She worked as a teacher's aide and then as a teacher for BOCES in Yorktown Heights retiring after suffering from a stroke. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Mercy College, Masters from Lehman College and was working on her PHD graduate studies at CUNY Graduate School at Lehman. She was lifelong member of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Peekskill. She followed politics and was the Democratic Cortlandt Committee district leader and a member of the Montrose Fire Department Auxiliary.

Cordts is survived by her children, Christopher and Thomas Cordts; sister, Janet Othus; and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Cordts.

Calling hours are Monday, Aug. 26 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. with a 4:30 p.m. Memorial Service at the Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose. Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27 at Hillside Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor.
