Two Arrested In Cortlandt Shoplifting Case

CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- State Police from the Cortlandt barracks arrested two individuals accused of shoplifting at a Cortlandt area business, according to State Police.

Ana J. Sarmiento, 39, and Ayme M. Garcia, 18, both of Mohegan Lake, N.Y., were both arrested after a local business owner contacted authorities about potential shoplifters, police said.

After investigating the incident, Sarmiento and Garcia were both charged with petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor, according to police.

Sarmiento and Garcia were given appearance tickets ordering them to appear before the town of Cortlandt Justice Court on Oct. 14 at 9 a.m., police said.
