CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- An $11 million state project to help ease congestion along the one-mile stretch of Route 202/35 between the Bear Mountain Bridge and the Taconic Parkway has provided a great deal of heartburn and headaches for Westchester commuters, according to LoHud.com.

The project expanded Route 202/35 to four lanes and allowed Peekskill-bound drivers to merge onto the road instead of clogging up the on-ramp at a stop sign, LoHud.com reported.

The project also has made the area safer with the addition of new crosswalks and traffic signals at Pine Grove Court and Stony Street, LoHud.com said.
