Peekskill Pair Charged With DWI, Marijuana Possession

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- New York State Police arrested two Peekskill men in a vehicle on the Taconic State Parkway and charged the driver with driving while impaired by drugs and the passenger with possession of marijuana, State Police said.

Cordero Ramos, 25, was pulled over when he failed to give a State Trooper the proper room while conducting another traffic stop. The trooper attempted to pull Ramos over, who didn't respond for approximately 4 miles, State Police said. 

When Ramos did pull over, the trooper detected the smell of marijuana in the car. The Passenger of the vehicle, Rory Waterman, 23, was found to be in possession of marijuana after a K9 search of the vehicle, State Police said. 

Waterman was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and is due to appear in Town of Claverack court on Tuesday, Nov. 12, police said. 

Ramos, meanwhile, failed a field sobriety test and was charged with Driving While Impaired by Drugs, Failed to Comply and Fail to Move Over. He is due to appear in Claverack Court on Tuesday, Nov. 19, police said.
