Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor was recently nominated as a contender for the 20 Most Beautiful Hospitals in the country in a contest organized by healthcare provider Soliant Health. For the third year in a row, Florida dominated the list with three in the top 20 with LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville, Tenn. leading the list.

"The list just closed and we had 70 hospitals nominated and more than 100,000 votes," said Soliant Health spokesperson Kara Tustin. "Unfortunately Hudson Valley Hospital Center didn't make the top 20. It ranked around number 30 which is still really high even though it didn't make the official list."

Tustin said figures would not be released on the hospitals missing the top 20, but added that HVHC received around 1,000 votes.

"We were inspired to create this list by recent data that found 'happy hospitals make happy patients,'" said David Alexander, president of Soliant Health, in a press release. "As a provider of healthcare professionals for hospitals, we recognize that staff morale and attention to patients' needs are critical to patients' happiness, but the survey also showed that another factor in satisfaction was how the hospital actually looked."

Last year, Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Va.. won the award after the contest received nearly 170,000 votes. Soliant Health is "one of the largest healthcare staffing companies in the US and connects hospitals and healthcare providers with highly qualified, full- or part-time healthcare professionals in a variety of specialized disciplines," according to the group's website.
