Shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, first-responders from Croton and Ossining were dispatched to Croton Point Park, where there were reports of the overturned garbage truck.
Crews from Croton-on-Hudson EMS and Fire, as well as Ossining EMS responded to the scene, where they tracked down the driver in the park’s main office, and then trekked up to the site of the accident, which was near the swimming pool.
First, the garbage truck was “righted” by a tow truck, and officials confirmed that no fluids were spilled from the truck during or after the crash. After cleaning up the scene, members of the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department cleared the area while the Westchester County Parks Department began making repairs.
The driver declined medical attention and there were no injuries reported. The Fire Department estimated it took nearly two dozen volunteers to clear the scene safely.
